Fruition

  • Artwork
  • Landmark

Matthew Harding's distinctive artwork, Fruition, is located at the gateway to Royal Park.

The fluted forms of Fruition resemble a pair of eggs or seed-pods, conveying the latent potential and primal vitality of natural lifecycles.

The steel from which the pods have been crafted form a protective layer of rust/oxide when exposed to the elements. This produces a sophisticated aesthetic symbolic of both industrial architecture and the natural world.

Matthew Harding is an innovative Australian artist and designer with a career spanning almost three decades. His background in the visual arts, construction industries and various craft traditions informs a wide ranging artistic practice encompassing public art, sculpture, craft and furniture design. Working with stone, wood, metal, glass and ephemeral media, Matthew seeks to push the boundaries of materials and conventional fabrication processes.

Fruition was commissioned by the ³Ô¹ÏÍø.
