The beautifully restored Kensington Town Hall provides affordable spaces for large community social and celebratory functions.

It also features safe spaces for young people to gather, arts activities, and community education and training spaces. Facilities include a main hall, a training space with hot desks, meeting rooms and a supper room.

Over its 114 year history, Kensington Town Hall has hosted everything from an infant and maternal health centre, to dances, political gatherings, war functions, boxing tournaments, and ballet classes.

The building’s original design was influenced by the economic depression in the 1890s and was built in 1901 for just 6,000 pounds.

The Town Hall represents one of the few defunct municipalities in Victoria. Less than four years after opening, the residents of Kensington and Flemington decided to amalgamate with the ³Ô¹ÏÍø.
