Great Passions: Radulović plays Khatchaturian
The stage will be packed with musicians from the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Symphony Orchestra performing alongside next-generation talent from the Australian National Academy of Music. Sitting in Hamer Hall, the colossal scale of this combined ensemble will envelop you in the sounds of Shostakovich’s Symphony No.4. The composer declared his work be a product of his 'great thoughts and great passions'. So great were those passions that his symphony inspired both awe and controversy, delaying its premiere by more than two decades. It has survived many decades more.
Like the symphony, Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto was composed during the Soviet Era. It blends the composer’s Armenian heritage with Western classical traditions. It’s also one of Nemanja Radulović’s signature works, so don’t miss the fiery solos under the skilled hands of this Serbian-French violinist.
Chief Conductor Jaime MartÃn leads the way.
