An emerging contemporary artist, Anthea Vayonitis works with dance and meditation practices to create gesturally embodied immersive paintings.
'In the silence between our heart beats' is an activation of works that includes the same titled 1.7 x 15m painting that was channelled whilst on a residency in July-August of 2025 in the Blue Mountains at Loaf Gallery, formerly known as Landslide. This progressive painting and body of work cascades as a visual journal of her time spent in Wentworth Falls.
Anthea connected with the sacred land of the Barkindrji river people and Gundungurra people. Anthea painted her connection to energy through lyrical abstraction and sensation that was found in the metaphysical energies in the earth and specifically the birdlife that consumed her during her stay in the Blue Mountains. This work is accompanied by tufted paintings that ground the avian energies, through bulbs, sunlight, and landscapes of the elemental spirits of earth, water, air and fire.
