The Best Films You've Never Seen: In the Mood for Love

  • Film
  • Entertainment

The 25th anniversary screening of Wong Kar Wai's 'In the Mood for Love' in glorious 4K, is not to be missed. As part of this special event, a previously unseen short film from Wong Kar Wai called 'In the Mood for Love 2001' will also screen.

Remaining one of cinema's most exquisite portrayals of yearning, restraint, and unspoken connection, 'In The Mood for Love' follows the budding relationship between Chow Mo-Wan (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and Su Li-Zhen (Maggie Cheung Man Yuk), neighbours who discover an unsettling truth about their absent spouses.

A celebration of cinematic longing, a love letter to Hong Kong, and the eternal pull of will they, won't they, with its lush cinematography and soundtrack, the film is a masterpiece of atmosphere. Ranked number five in Sight & Sound's Greatest Films of All Time, the film continues to resonate, and Tony Leung's performance won Best Actor at Cannes.

Presented by RMIT Culture in partnership with RMIT Cinema Studies.
