Join Curator, Rare Books, Susan Millard and artist Nicholas Jones for a journey through the history of artists’ books from the early 20th century to today and an artist’s insights into his practice in book sculpture.

Key works from Archives and Special Collections’ holdings of early-20th-century volumes by artists including Joan Miró, Ed Ruscha and Sol LeWitt to contemporary book sculptures by Brian Dettmer will be on display. Nicholas Jones will speak to, and demonstrate, his artistic process reimaging and transforming unwanted books and posing questions as to the future of the written word in a digital age.
