School Holiday Workshop: Wild Child!

  • Family and kids
  • Workshop

These school holidays, join the Hellenic Museum for a lively workshop where young adventurers aged 7–13 years are invited to explore and experience the fascinating coming-of-age rituals in the ancient world!

The group will begin together with an engaging talk about the significance of coming-of-age festivals in ancient Greece: why they mattered, what they symbolised, and how they prepared young people for the next stage of life. Afterwards, the group will separate (just as the ancients did) with each group embarking on their own unforgettable ritual: the Arkteia bear festival for girls, and the Spartan Gymnopaedia for boys.

There will be plenty of running, dancing, and getting in touch with your ‘wild sides’ as young explorers learn all about these ancient, symbolic acts of transformation and renewal.
