Built in 1853, the MCG is no ordinary sports stadium. Steeped in history, it has been the home of Australian football since 1859 and was the birthplace of Test cricket in 1877.
The MCG also served as the main stadium for the 1956 Summer Olympics, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 1992 and 2015 Cricket World Cups.
Affectionally known as 'The G' to Melburnians, the stadium has a seating capacity of 100,024, making it the largest stadium in the southern hemisphere.
Hosting the annual AFL Grand Final and Boxing Day Test cricket match, this colosseum of Australian sport is arguably Australia's sporting mecca.
Guided tours depart daily between 10am and 3pm, except on MCG event days. Tours are available on all non-match days except Christmas Day, ³Ô¹ÏÍø Cup Day, and Good Friday.
