Circe's Carnival of Vice

  • Theatre
  • Entertainment

Do you dare descend into James Joyce’s fevered dreamscape?
When men fall under the spell of Circe, what can they become?
Prepare yourself for a wild carnival ride of surreal hallucinations exploring the outer realms of gender identity and sexuality in Dublin 1904 – an over-the-top world of music, laughter…and vice.

It's gritty, moving, uproarious and outrageous: you may never be the same!

Presented by Bloomsday in ³Ô¹ÏÍø, this original production reimagines Joyce’s ‘Circe’ episode as a surreal, comic and subversive response to the sexologists of his day – those boldly redefining ‘normal’ sexuality. Blending bawdy pantomime with biting critique, this drama is a playful yet pointed exploration of enchantment, desire, power and gender.
