BESA: The Beat of Belonging

  • Free
  • Theatre

BESA is a bold new dance work in development that weaves traditional Ghanaian movement with contemporary choreography. Created by Asanti Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, Appiah Annan, and Ghanaian Master Drummer, Kofi Kunkpe, BESA takes audiences on a vibrant, immersive journey that honours heritage while reimagining the future of dance.

This one-night-only premiere features Appiah’s 14-year-old daughter, Mina, in a remarkable father–daughter performance. Together, they share a deeply personal story where heritage flows across generations, new lands are embraced, and culture beats the rhythm of belonging.

Supported by the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Arts Grants.
